John Fitzgibbon is an artist from Joplin, Missouri, who was commissioned by late Chief Floyd Leonard to recreate an original painting about the removal of the Miami in the late 1990's. The original painting is by an artist from Logansport, Indiana, Wilson Berry, in the 1910s. The original painting is in the collection of the MHMA.
